Each University and College participating in this learning experience also has technical support for computer use. Because these people are often pressed with many details and because the internal management of the workspace program is Fr. Bucko's task, it is always best to contact faculty first if you are having computer difficulty.

However, if you are having trouble with hardware, connecting to the BSCW, system speed, and general operational questions, or if a faculty memeber is not readily available, you may try Information Systems.

Configuring the Mailer in Netscape

You are most likely to need help in this class while using Netscape. If Netscape is not configured correctly a) you will not be able to use the mail utility or b) you will send a message with the wrong return address!!! If you click on the mailbox for the respective faculty or staff you will invoke a mail window. If you are using Netscape on a public server you will need to enter your e-mail address in the "Options - Mail" menu. First select Options and then Mail and News Preferences (as seen below-- note that your screen display might be slightly different):



This will bring up a dialogue box similar to the one seen below. Choose the identity tab and fill in the relevant information. Note that different versions of Netscape will have different displays. The key piece of information you want to enter is your correct e-mail address!!!


If the mail window is not working or if you are unfamiliar with sending mail that way you can simply write down the e-mail address and use it in a mail utility with which you are familiar. If Netscape mail is not working in a particular lab please report this to the professor!
