Deleting an Object |
At times you may want to delete an object from the workspace. Perhaps you have created an URL which will not work or you made a mistake uploading a document or you created an artilce which does not express well what you really want to say. You can delete these objects. At times the workspace will not allow you to delete even objects you have created-- this depends on the protections which your professor has set. In general you should NEVER delet an object that does not belong to you!If you reply to a message (called an article on the BSCW) you CANNOT delete your reply. Only the owner of the message can delete the entire message. Generally, if you make a mistake replying to a message simply create another reply. Just leave the defective message alone as many people's work could be destroyed if there are a lot of respondants to a single message string.
If you wish to delete an object an it is an object you yourself have created you have to first indicate the object you wish to delete. You do this by checking (click on the box with your left mouse button) the square box to the left of the object you wish to delete. After you check the box the object will look something like this (if you are deleting a URL):
After you have checked the box (or boxes if you are deleting multiple objects) you then left click on the
button on the menu bar.
You will notice that your trash can which looked like this before the delete:
will now look like this:
.
If you accidentally deleted an object do not panic! You can go into the garbage (by left clicking on waste) and undelete the object you deleted!
