Changing Your User Preferences |
The workspace allows you to customize certain features of the operating system. This will allow you to use the workspace more efficiently.
To edit your preferences use the drop down menu at the top of the BSCW interface (blue bar). Choose "options" and when the menu bar drops down choose "preferences" as seen below:
When you choose the "change preferences" menu item you will see a blue dialogue screen that looks like this:
Here are a few hints on changing preferences:
- Format of E-Mail Messages:
If you are using an HTML capable mail client such as Outlook, Eudora, WebMail or Pegasis select "HTML". Your daily update will be "clickable" and you can use it to navigate to the workspace via your mail messages. If you use a text based mail client such as Pine then select "Plain Text".
BCC of Sent Mail:
Selecting this box causes BSCW to send copies of your messages to yourself (blind carbon copy).
User Profile:
Choose "Expert"-- This setting determines how many menu items will be available to you. Choosing expert gives you the maximum number of options.
Show Descriptions By Default:
Leave this box checked. Trust me!
Use File Upload Helper:
Leave this box unchecked. This will allow you to use a more intiutive help screen when uploading documents to the BSCW.
Use ActiveX:
Leave this box unchecked. Again, this will simplify your document uploading procedures.
Known Editors:
Leave this setting alone.
- After you have customized all the necessary fields click the "OK" button. Each time you type data on a screen for BSCW you must "enter" it into the database by pressing the "OK" button.
