BSCW Project Help Files:
Adding a URL
In order to add a URL to the Workspace please follow the following procedure. First be sure you are in the proper folder! Check the naviation bar-- the final name is the name of your currently open folder.

From the blue menu bar choose File -- New -- URL . The screen will look something like this:

Once you select File -- New -- URL you will be presented with a screen which looks something like this:

Here are some hints for filling out this screen:

URL:
A URL is a the web address for the page you are viewing. The best way to search for web pages to add to the BSCW is to open two browsers (open Internet Explorer twice in other words). Use one browswer for BSCW and the other to surf the web. When you find a relevant site cut and past the URL from your surfing page to the BSCW screen. A url will look like this: http://puffin.creighton.edu/bucko/

Be sure you erase the initial http:// in the box as that is only there to give you a "hit" at what goes in the box. If you have a double http:// the link will not work.

Label:
This field is NOT optional. Please use a short phrase to carefully identiify the web page you are adding to the BSCW. Pick a phrase that sums up the content of the web page.

Description:
Use this field to add more information about the page, especially its relevance to what we are now studying. You can write an extended summary of the page, mention its authority and evaluate its worth.

After you have filled in the boxes click the "OK" button. Be sure to go back and click on the URL to make sure that it actually works!!!
